Who are we?

Ultra Light Startups hosts events for technology entrepreneurs by technology entrepreneurs. Events feature pitching, networking and interactive panel discussions. At these events, entrepreneurs help each other capitalize on the latest cost-effective and capital-efficient practices.

What topics do we cover?

• Monetization - Advertising, affiliate/lead-gen, ecommerce, subscriptions, memberships, marketplaces, etc.
• Marketing - Online & offline, traditional & new/social media, mix, virality, measurement, etc.
• Technology - Platform selection, cost-effective development, vendor sourcing, open source vs. proprietary platforms, mobile, social, cloud computing, etc.
• User Engagement and Insights - Usability testing, user experience, metrics, analytics, etc
• Finance and Organizational Structures - Bootstrapping & venture funding, hiring/partnering, outsourcing, freelancing, distributed/virtual companies, etc.

Where are we?

We started in New York in May of 2008 and have since expanded to London and Boston. We also have online communities on social networks including Meetup, LinkedIn and Facebook.

What kind of events do we host?

Entrepreneurs Forums. Monthly meetings of about 100 tech entrepreneurs where we share ideas, network, and participate in discussions about topics of interest to individuals starting lightweight tech ventures. These events feature our signature "elevator pitch" introductions from the many attending entrepreneurs followed by pizza and networking and then an interactive panel discussion on one of the topics listed above.

Legal Roundtables. Monthly meetings of about 40 entrepreneurs and a select panel of attorneys specializing in legal topics for tech entrepreneurs. Subjects include intellectual property, contracts, terms and conditions, forms of incorporation, partnerships, LLC's and other structures, financing structures, immigration, tax, international legal issues, and much more. Come to get your own questions answered and hear answers provided to other entrepreneurs.

Who runs Ultra Light Startups?

Ultra Light Startups was founded by Graham Lawlor, who continues to organize the New York chapter. The London chapter is organized by Krish Sridhar and the Boston chapter is organized by Graham Clarke. Feel free to contact us if you'd like to get involved.
